Emmys In Memoriam Honors Betty White, Bob Saget, Nichelle Nichols, and More

The 74th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held Monday night, honoring television’s greatest accomplishments. As part of the proceedings, Hollywood also paid tribute to the beloved and iconic characters who have passed away since last year’s Emmys, in the form of this year’s In Memoriam package. This year’s Memorial Emmy Awards highlighted a number of notable people who passed away in late 2021 and early 2022. Among them were legendary actors Betty White, Nicholl Nichols, Bob Saget, Louis Anderson, James Caan, Ray Liotta, and Anne Heechey.

“Although Betty was about to turn 100, I thought she would live forever,” White’s agent and close friend Jeff Whitgas said when her death was announced in late 2021. Much. I don’t think Betty was ever afraid of death because she always wanted to be with her beloved husband, Allen Lowden. She thought she would be with him again.”

The In Memoriam was accompanied by a performance of “The Slash,” a new song from John Legend.

Reginald “Reggie” Hudlin, executive producer for the Emmys, said in a statement when Legend’s involvement was first announced. “You guys are all fans of John Legend, you know how he can grab your heart straight and break you…. John Legend’s performance is always something exciting and the song is unique, special and uniquely suited to the context we’ll put it in.”

The 74th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards take place Monday, September 12th live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and broadcast live on NBC.
